Another change is invasions, a Dark Souls must. Eventually they just get one shot though. Most of them are actually bosses from the first game and can help a lot early on. The only time you get allies is when you approach a boss, and the allies are set in stone. Instead, they act as accessories you can select as you please. The biggest changes from the first game are things like no longer being able to summon the girls to fight with you. Which is probably for SEN management more then anything.
She will never hate you or punish you, and just revives when you come back. Thankfully the rabbit girl in your home base, Node, can be used to increase and decrease SEN without issue. SEN was kind of pointless in the original game, but in this one managing it is very important. At low SEN you can’t talk to NPC’s(if they appear human like at all), some new monsters spawn, and often the music and world art will change. Low SEN, mostly from titular Black Souls, lower SEN. High numbers mean you are in the worlds right, which mostly means checking corpses and having sex. SEN is basically how intune with the world you are. That item also lowers your SEN, the most important stat for exploring the world. Eventually you will get the numbers as every death just gives you an item that raises your stats.
Keep branching out until you can beat a new boss or grind until that happens. For your first run, I will say that is how you should play the entire game. The main goal at the start is to raise your stats so that you stand a chance against anything and just keep grinding and finding new stuff until you make progress. You pick a starting bonus, start the game, and die. Beating it requires a bit more… crazy? Gameplay Only once you beat the game that way will you realize that’s not how you beat it.
You can just kill them if you want, though leaving people alive is usually better for more content. All the people you talk to either say bad things about her or have no idea. She’s somehwere, but you have no idea where. Based off ending D from the first game, apparently. This is a bit more wonderland focused, but otherwise is basically just more of the original.
